About the Firm

For almost 18 years, Dougherty Management Associates, Inc., now doing business as DMA Health Strategies (DMA), has worked with federal, state and local health and human service clients on projects involving strategic planning, change management and quality improvement. We are a small, consulting firm with the knowledge and experience that emerges from work on some of our country’s most significant public behavioral health systems transformations.  DMA has assisted organizations that provide services to people with mental illness, substance use disorders, chronic disabilities, health conditions and child abuse and neglect.  Our highly effective team has direct experience in the design and implementation of major public behavioral health systems, planning for the implementation of consumer-directed behavioral health care, disease management strategies, pharmacy management, hospital conversions, benchmarking, and performance measurement.

Each public agency has a unique set of organizational, political, regulatory, legal, and financial requirements; each solution must be unique. The DMA team is particularly effective at balancing the needs of multiple constituencies to create workable and politically viable local solutions.
