Massachusetts Department of Social Services

DMA assisted the Department of Social Services to design and plan implementation of a tiered foster care continuum, improving the match between special needs foster children and the competencies of their foster parents. The project involved reviewing the available MIS data on children currently in foster care, conducting a record review of a random sample of cases and analyzing the results.

Outcomes: The first foster care rate increase in ten years was approved and an assessment process for foster children was developed to incorporate tools for clinical screening and assessment.
